As a Jr. Front End (UX/UI) Software Engineer you will be responsible for building and supporting client web/mobile (digital) applications using HTML, CSS, JS and Java. This role focuses on creating performant and scalable code for both small and medium sized digital projects with a focal point on the user interface and user experience. You will be responsible for developing sophisticated digital experiences and must be proficient with front-end web development practices. This role sits within the information technology development/delivery teams and will need to be able to build (hands-on) to deliver solid robust innovative experiences.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop functional and appealing web applications based on usability/user experience
  • Use a combination of markup languages to write web pages or responsive sites
  • Write functional requirement documents and specifications for UI
  • Develop low fidelity and highly annotated wireframes during the requirements/design phases
  • Create quality mock-ups and prototypes using products like Adobe
  • Assist back-end developers in coding and troubleshooting the translations between the FE and BE code
  • Create cascading style sheets (CSS) that are consistent across all browsers and platforms
  • Maintain graphic standards and brand guidelines throughout the product’s interface
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies (e.g. wearables, etc.)
  • Promote usability best practices and industry standards (W3C, WCAG, ADA, etc.)
  • Driving hands-on technical design, code development, code review and implementation of digital based experience
  • Partner closely with other internal and external designers, developers, quality assurance engineers, customers, test users, user experience manager, product managers, engineering subject matter experts, business analysts, and business managers on new applications and refining existing applications to understand both the front-end UI and the underlying technology
  • Actively participate in internal/cross team meetings, scoping, and decision making to translate the requirements for a product’s optimal functionality into interactive solutions
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to pixel perfect HTML/CSS coding to quality assurance support
  • Technical documentation of user centric designs, style guides, web standards, CSS/XHTML best practices, presentations, communication, meetings and influencing change within the digital development experience for the organization in partnership with Architecture
