  • Responsible for administering and supporting non-production Oracle databases and related technologies, ensuring their performance, availability, and security
  • Follows standards, concepts, and practices
  • Works under general supervision in close coordination with team members

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Can understand, tune, write and execute SQL queries and scripts
  • Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of enterprise databases (both single-instance and RAC) in non-production environment; Later, same responsibility will be given in production based on the performance
  • Configure and perform backup and restore operations using Oracle RMAN
  • Monitors backup routines for successful completion
  • Make changes to the database configuration parameters as required
  • Create new databases as needed
  • Refresh non-production databases from RMAN backup of production or standby database
  • Maintain and monitor standby database at disaster recovery facility using Oracle Data Guard
  • Understand Oracle Net and can follow instructions for its maintenance
  • Know how to use these Oracle Tools: Oracle Enterprise Manager, Data Pump, SQL* Plus
  • Provide after hours on call coverage on a rotating basis along with other members of the DBA team
  • Follow the established change control procedures
  • Escalate problems to Oracle and third party support as needed to attain efficient resolution
  • Work closely with various IT teams, including but not limited to, Application Development Team, BA Team, Application Triage Team, System Admin team and Network Team to resolve issues in any environment

Optional Skills:

  • UNIX/Linux Shell Scripting, TOAD, SQL Developer, Oracle Discoverer, PL/SQL


  • 3+ years of Oracle DBA experience, preferably in settings that also support application development teams
  • Good Troubleshooting skills
  • Solid understanding of Oracle Database technology
  • Experience working with Linux/UNIX OS


  • Typically requires a college degree or equivalent and three years related experience

Language Skills:

  • Good communication ability with other administrators, users, and programmers

Reasoning Ability:

  • Typically, should have excellent logical reasoning and problem solving skills
