Plan, direct, and manage the MIS (Management Information Systems) Department in order to ensure the development and implementation of cost-effective systems and efficient computer operations to meet current technical performance requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recommend MIS policies, standards, practices, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent information processing operations and to safeguard information resources
  • Select, develop, and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function
  • Manage work assignments of the IT Production staff
  • Consult with management to analyze computer system needs for management information and functional operations, to determine scope and priorities of projects, and to discuss system capacity, equipment acquisitions and licensing
  • Recommend and develop plans for systems operations, hardware and software purchases required for operations and production
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plan for large and small distributed systems in order to meet technical performance requirements for different contracts
  • Develop, implement, and monitor management information systems policies and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, and legal and regulatory compliance
  • Provide support to end users in the selection, procurement, usage, and maintenance of software programs and hardware
  • Manage computer operation scheduling, backup, storage, and retrieval functions
  • Perform the following duties personally or through subordinates:
    • Review system logs ensuring no abnormalities
    • Perform monthly security updates to systems
    • Ensure that backup is done properly
    • Ensure antivirus software is working properly
    • Plan and perform Windows updates, software updates and firmware updates
    • Review reports of computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine costs and impact, and address problems
  • Oversee network management, including wide area, local area, and remote access capabilities
  • Test new technologies to improve TransCore LAN/WAN
  • Negotiate contracts with consultants, technical personnel, and vendors for services and products
  • Other duties as assigned
