The Consumer Loan Funding Specialist position is responsible for providing exceptional service to members that have applied and been approved for credit. In addition, this role provides effective communication of credit union products, services and activities to members, and employees, with the specific goal of increasing awareness of the credit union, membership, and sales production.


  • Responsible for meeting individual production goals as determined by management. The individual goals will contribute to the overall Credit Union Goal as set by the CEO, CFO, and CLO.
  • Accountable for complete knowledge and comprehension of credit union policies, guidelines, consumer loan and credit union philosophy
  • Analyze loan information in order to determine if decision is within the consumer lending guidelines
  • Review loan documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Collect, maintain and accurately prepare and process loan documentation in accordance with the Member Consumer Loan Processing guidelines
  • Strong ability to educate members on alternatives and credit union loan products
  • Communicate decisions to members in both written and verbal format through various channels
  • Cross-sell appropriate products and services
  • Maintain or exceed individual, department, and credit union production goals as set by the credit unions CFO and Senior Leadership team
  • Responsible for the posting and accuracy of the loan set-up in core and lending systems
  • Reconcile Member Consumer Loan funding loan packages
  • Possess the skills to process and fund all Member Consumer Loan types
  • Obtain and verify loan payoff information from external financial institutions
  • Accurately update and maintain all Consumer Loan Processing funding logs
  • Accountable for maintaining daily branch (Department) balancing of official checks and electronic funds
  • Able to read and interpret credit bureau reports and explain information to members as needed
  • Possess the ability to work independently and/or in a group environment
  • Respond to members via incoming and outgoing calls as well as through alternative channels
  • Coordinate quality loan closings with members and/or community financial center personnel
  • Accountable for managing individual pipeline in a manner which maximizes converting applications into funded loans
  • Able to effectively communicate with dealers, financial institutions, and motor vehicle departments
  • Responsible for working knowledge of government rules and regulations involving consumer lending
  • Always provide prompt, courteous, internal and external exceptional member service in a professional manner
  • Adhering to consumer loan phone expectations
  • Follow and maintain department position expectations
  • Participate and contribute to a positive team work environment which encourages team commitment to corporate, division, and departmental goals
  • Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of compliance on an annual basis
  • Must keep up to date on any additional regulatory requirements as needed
  • Ability to accommodate flexible schedule
  • Ability to de-escalate  members and recommend resolution to supervisor and manger
  • Qualify for NMLS registration according to the Safe Act
