This person applies analytical and creative abilities to research issues and provide suggestions for resolutions or improvements to compensation strategy and administration programs and plans. The Compensation Analyst researches all aspect of the impact of proposed programs and practices including job analysis, job evaluation, documentation, benchmarking, participating in compensation surveys, and creating communications for internal and external use. The Compensation Analyst communicates and performs logistical activities for rolling out new programs and practices, following up on responses from business unit.


  • Research current company practices and industry best practices to formulate recommendations for standardization, policy and program development
  • Prepare drafts of program policies and revisions to program policies, drawing from committee input, best practices and published reputable sources
  • Conduct analysis for the purpose of data clean-up and standardization
  • Analyze the impact of new programs or changes to programs, preparing reports that indicate facility differences and potential impacts including costs, workforce impacts, procedure impacts and communication impacts
  • Effectively communicate talent management practices to HR business partners and others as needed, bringing questions of interpretation to supervisor as needed
  • Prepare communication to facilities and follow up on any acknowledgements not returned, escalating issues as appropriate
  • Maintain ongoing and up-to-date knowledge of company-wide policies in all areas and best practices in other organizations
  • Conduct industry compensation comparisons, validate market survey data, perform compensation analysis, and send market analysis data package to facilities
  • Review proposals for new or revised classifications to determine appropriate exempt or non-exempt assignment in accordance with federal regulations
  • Review proposed salary actions for compliance with established guidelines, policies, and budget limits
  • Assist in gathering data for salary surveys as directed
  • Update HCM system with annual merit pay matrix for facilities as directed
  • Load and update compensation data in the HCM system
  • Serve as an information source regarding pay practices and policies
  • Provide advice to managers/director on new or non-routine compensation decisions for employees, policy and guideline interpretation, and job evaluation
  • Maintain documentation of all activities related to compensation

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in human resources
  • Compensation experience preferred

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related area
  • CCP preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel required
  • Human Capital Management (HCM) experience, especially PeopleSoft preferred
  • Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) preferred
