New research from 4 Corner Resources reveals how workers view AI’s role in their jobs, career mobility, and long-term job security.
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 3, 2025 – 4 Corner Resources (4CR), a national staffing and recruiting firm, today announced the results of its AI Perception and Threat in the Workplace Survey, a nationwide study exploring how employees view the growing influence of artificial intelligence at work.
The findings reveal a workforce in transition: while many see AI as a tool to boost productivity and build skills, others are uncertain about its long-term impact on job security. Despite recognizing AI’s potential to automate nearly half of their responsibilities, most employees remain optimistic about its ability to enhance their careers and daily work.
Key findings
- Workers think AI could replace nearly half of their job duties. On average, employees estimate that 45% of their responsibilities could be automated by AI. Among managers, that number jumps to 56%, showing that leaders realize their roles aren’t immune.
- More than one in four fear AI will threaten their job. 26% of employees are highly concerned that AI could endanger their role within a year, while 34% of Gen Z fear job disruption within the next three years.
- AI is driving career mobility. 78% of workers have switched jobs or would consider switching for better AI training or exposure, with 22% of Gen Z having already switched.
- AI adoption is already widespread. 79% report AI has at least some impact on their role today, and three in four say their use of AI has increased in the past six months.

A workforce that sees both risk and reward
The survey shows employees view AI as both a threat and a tool for growth. While 45% believe AI could replace key tasks, many interpret this shift as evolution rather than extinction. For most, the technology represents an opportunity to work smarter, not a signal of job loss.
“AI isn’t just changing how people work; it’s starting to guide where they work. The most talented individuals will gravitate toward companies that help them learn and leverage AI tools, not avoid them.” – Pete Newsome, President of 4CR.
Differences by level and generation
The data reveals a divide between leadership and staff: managers and executives have a more positive outlook on AI’s potential over the next year, while non-managers remain cautious and uncertain. Generational differences also stand out. Gen Z reports the highest regular use of AI tools (42%) but also the greatest anxiety about its future impact, with 34% expressing high concern about job security in the next three years.
AI as a career catalyst
AI isn’t just reshaping how employees work; it’s influencing where they choose to work. With 78% of respondents open to switching jobs for better AI exposure, training is now a career decision factor on par with compensation and company culture.
Companies that integrate AI into learning and development are poised to attract forward-thinking talent, while those that lag behind may risk losing skilled employees to more AI-forward organizations.
Methodology
The AI Perception and Threat in the Workplace Survey was conducted by 4 Corner Resources in October 2025 among 500 full-time U.S. employees aged 18 to 60 with annual household incomes of $50,000 or more. Participants represented all U.S. regions (51% male, 49% female). The online survey captured insights on AI usage, perceived job impact, and career attitudes across industries.
