Position Summary:

The Sr .Net Developer is responsible for the development and implementation of business applications according to user requirements. The individual will need to design, modify, develop, write, test, and implement software applications as well as support and/or install software applications/operating systems according to the department standards. The individual must have practical experience with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within software development. The position works under general supervision but certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

The individual will follow to code standards, be responsible to check in and check out code as well as merge code with other developers. The individual will also follow architectural design as described by the Team Lead, and ensure process and SDLC practices are followed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engage with teams to work on small to large new applications
  • Able to convert existing VB6 applications to VB.NET
  • Develop code based on specifications provided
  • Create deployment scripts and procedures for new applications
  • Participate and contribute to design sessions
  • Create specifications and designs for application upgrades and maintenance
  • Work with release management, middle tier and infrastructure, to design and construct new core services/enhance and maintain existing services
  • Provide senior-level development and design contributions including guidance in formulating requirements, evaluation of technical architecture, and make recommendations of the optimum approach to meet the functional and non-functional requirements
  • Lead code inspections and provide feedback and guidance to other software engineers
  • Collaborate with project team members to informally arbitrate technical matters
  • Create and maintain documentation surrounding but not limited to design, deployment, and implementation
  • Help create best practice and coding standards documents
  • Create automated unit tests and participate in all test phases of new and existing applications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues for the more complex issues
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and teach junior team members
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Knowledge and Education:

  • BS Computer Science/Engineering required
  • Knowledge C#, VB.Net, ASP.Net, VB6, Visual Studio Team System TFS, WCF, SQL language, SQL Server 2008r2 & 2012, HTML, AJAX, JavaScript, OO and .WebServices
  • 2-5 years of demonstrated experience in Microsoft/.Net technologies
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with .Net (3/3.5), C#, VB.NET Visual Studio, XML, UML
  • Database connectivity/SQL experience is a must
  • Experience using version control software is must (SVN, preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with commonly used OO designs and patterns
  • Knowledge of IIS
  • Strong math, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail, high degree of accuracy in daily work, ability to work independently and meet deadlines required
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, dedicated team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as self-starter with high personal initiative
  • BS in Computer Science or related engineering field or equivalent experience
