Position Summary:

This person will manage all aspects of the daily operations of HLA Title, ensuring the department is fulfilling the key initiatives set by the credit union. They should have an in-depth knowledge of residential mortgage closing, mortgage lending and adhere to all federal and state guidelines and credit union policies and procedures. This individual should possess the skills to increase the closing volume and add additional clients.

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with the current organizational goals, current team objectives and goals and the strategic plan as set by the executive management team including the company vision, mission and brand promise flywheel
  • Ensure compliance with the various federal and state laws and regulations that relate to functions administered within the responsibilities of this position
  • Manage all aspects of daily operations of HLA Title and responsible for growing the business through outside sales to other financial institutions
  • Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures
  • Provide oversight including the staffing, training, and motivation of the teams
  • Manage, coach and develop direct reports for growth and desired outcomes
  • Complete employee evaluations and goal setting on an annual basis, with coaching throughout the year
  • Ensure proper staffing and training of staff; responsible for the interviewing and selection of qualified candidates perform all responsibilities in accordance with current organizational goals and standards
  • Recommend process improvements and implement policies and procedures, which increase efficiency and provide a greater return on credit union assets
  • Continuously strive for quality improvement of processes and service
  • Work closely with all credit union divisions to continually improve the member experience
  • Provide educational tools and training to credit union staff to assist them in making informed decisions
  • Review weekly reports, ensuring that we are reaching our goals
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the by-laws, policies and procedures of the credit union and its subsidiaries
  • Further, remain abreast of regulatory requirements and advise management in a timely manner on needed governance and/or operational changes
  • Keep abreast of the title functions and how the mortgage process affects other areas/departments within credit union
  • Remain up to date on mortgage data base for creation of interfaces between various computer systems, providing files to outside vendors and ability to work with IT department; automate processes whenever applicable
  • Maintain effective communication with all credit union employees to ensure coordination and exchange of information for accomplishing credit union goals

Other Job Functions:

  • Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects
  • Ability to supervise/manage direct reports
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Abide by all policies, procedures, and protocols set forth in the departmental, organization employee, operational and administrative policy manuals

Physical Requirements: 

  • Commute to credit union facilities as needed
  • Able to sit, communicate via telephone, type and read a computer screen for extended periods of time
  • May also require standing, stooping and reaching
  • Requires light physical activity performing non strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature as well as periods of prolonged sitting
  • Requires extensive typing, filing and writing

Relationships: 

  • VP Home Loan Alliance/MHLP
    • The incumbent is accountable to the VP Home Loan Alliance for interpreting and fulfilling the above responsibilities and others which may be assigned.
