The Network Engineer is responsible for the operation, implementation, and maintenance of an existing service provider network. Duties will include network capacity planning, implementing ongoing network architecture improvements in a data center environment, and making internal technology recommendations to management. Network Engineers work on a team performing both new customer activations, and customer network architecture design and integration. The Network Engineer will have a strong ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements and to anticipate end-to-end network infrastructure needs. Network Engineers work internally and externally with IT support team(s) and/or partners as part of an IT networking consultancy with client.


  • Escalation point for troubleshooting of complex networking related issues in a TAC environment
  • Design, configure, and install custom infrastructure solutions for Data Center customers
  • Operate and optimize existing Cisco network interconnecting multiple Data Centers with customer locations and the internet
  • Configure custom security policies in existing Cisco ASA 5500 series firewalls to support customer VPNs and protect customer servers, in both stand alone and shared environments
  • Configure MPLS services in existing MPLS backbone to interconnect customer locations with Data Center resources
  • Configure customer facing network ports on existing Cisco network including T1, Multilink PPP T1, T3, Metro Ethernet, Ethernet; provide onsite support for testing and day one go-live
  • Provide internal level 2 support of EIGRP and BGP routing
  • Provide internal level 2 support of layer 2 switching
  • Provide advanced technical direction and leadership to the lower level network administrators/engineers through the planning and implementation processes
  • Ensures availability for rotating on call schedule
  • Attends to obligations and supports other company initiatives as directed


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • CCNP certification or higher knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge with 3-5 years experience in a high-performance datacenter with direct support and network services engineering responsibilities
  • Hands on experience with the following:

o   Cisco ASA Firewalls and Cisco X-series ASA Firewalls with Firepower services

o   2960/2960S/2960X/2960XR Cisco Switches

o   3560/3750/3650/3850 Stack Cisco Switches

o   720x/2900/ISR Series Routers

o   Various commonly used Cisco SCPE Hardware

  • Knowledge of Low Voltage wiring standards including both copper and fiber
  • Proven experience with service provider protocols such as:


  • 24×7 operations experience required
