Summary:

The Public Relations Manager develops and implements public relations tactics aimed at furthering the strategic objectives of the company. This role assists in the planning and day-to-day oversight of the client’s corporate reputation management, including media relations, crisis communications, corporate literature, etc. In addition, the Public Relations Manager works to support the image and reputation of the company in the communities in which it operates.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Aid the Director
  • Corporate Public Relations in the execution of strategies to protect and enhance the client’s corporate reputation and image
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with media to gain positive coverage and position the client’s leaders as experts
  • Serve as a company spokesperson to the media
  • Research, prepare, write, pitch and distribute news and information to media outlets
  • Assist in the development of media relations outreach, crisis communications plans, testimonials, campaigns, and publicity to support community relations efforts
  • Work as needed to build and maintain a media relations infrastructure, including media monitoring, analysis and reporting; in so doing, advise the director of issues with potential to generate negative or false public perception
  • Work with the client’s regions and markets to enhance efforts to generate favorable opinion about the market in the region and garner local, and regional media attention
  • Counsel internal clients on the communications tactics that will best meet their needs
  • Meet needs in a timely manner, build productive customer relationships, and take personal responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Collect, write and maintain associate, member, provider and community success stories as needed
  • Work with the entire Corporate Communications team to ensure the delivery of coordinated, accurate, consistent and effective content and messages
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications or Public Relations Required
  • A Master’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications or Public Relations Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, journalism or a combination, Required
