Job Summary: 

Participate in all functions of the information technology asset management process for hardware and software assets including but not limited to ordering, receiving, stock maintenance, asset assignment, inventory control, MACD activities, asset imaging and asset preparation for use, asset retention, asset reclamation, asset retirement and decommission, asset refurbishment, asset disposal, software agreement and license management/metering/harvesting, vendor and contract reviews and discussions and all aspects of the hardware and software asset management as directed by IT management. Duties may focus on software, hardware or both. Also provides guidance and mentoring to junior level ITAM associates.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure ITAM discipline is adhered to across all aspects of the ITAM process
  • Ensure appropriate governance is in place for the IT asset repository to regularly have a 95% or better accuracy
  • Provide IT asset related metrics and reports as requested by management
  • Perform internal self-audits regularly and support external audits of hardware and software assets as required
  • Organize and analyze purchase information to establish an accurate and complete summary of asset costs
  • Identify savings opportunities for purchases, renewals and software licensing
  • Review and maintain owned software license repository and improve the scope, quality and reliability of the data
  • Participate in software license metering and harvesting efforts
  • Collect information for budgeting, software compliance and inventory, contract summaries, and cost comparisons
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Experience Level:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT Asset Management (required)
  • 10+ years of experience in IT Asset Management (preferred)
  • IT Asset Management and Discovery Tools use experience


  • Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM)
  • IAITAM CSAM – Certified Software Asset Manager

  • Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions and licensing knowledge and product use rights for Microsoft, Oracle, Symantec, Adobe
  • Conceptual knowledge and understanding of information technology
  • Must be able to document information, issues, work and/or incidents using standard formats. Documentation must be grammatically correct, factually accurate, and appropriate to the target audience.
  • Knowledge of IT asset hardware and software lifecycle management
  • Must be able to type at least 25 words a minute for data and configuration entry
  • Ability to multi-task
