The Project Manager is responsible for providing the required leadership on multiple medium sized projects or larger more complex projects by inspiring team members to attain project goals and meet the expectations of the project sponsor as documented in the Project Charter.

  • Creates and executes project work plans and revises them accordingly to meet changing needs and adapting the established project management processes and methodology
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of business projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals
  • Directs, manages, plans and administers the operational and administrative activities of an Information Technology and Business project teams which are assigned to a related set of medium sized projects and larger, more complex projects following the defined processes of the Program Management Office (PMO)
  • Work across multiple business areas to manage both IT and business deliverables
  • Forms a strong relationship with the business stakeholders, partnering to resolve project related issues, provides projects status updates and escalates issues and concerns appropriately

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible and accountable for delivering medium to large projects on-time, on-budget, and meeting functional and quality specifications
  • Uses approved processes, templates, and tools to execute project delivery and receives waivers for acceptable exceptions
  • Experience with medium to large, innovative new product development initiatives involving multiple technologies, stake holders and business processes to align to a business benefit
  • Forecasts, manages, and reports on project financials, planned and actual project schedule, and resources utilization
  • Understands basic revenues models and cost to completion projections making decisions accordingly
  • Uses established scheduling techniques to derive the project schedules, identifies the critical path and potential risks
  • Effectively applying the scheduling standards and enforcing them with the project teams
  • Identifies resources needed to complete work and collaborates with resource manager(s) to assemble appropriate skills/teams and resources
  • Manages Issues, risks, and changes using appropriate and agreed upon processes and tools established within the Project Management Office
  • Manages Project
  • Expenditures both Forecast and Actual (Capital Budget)
  • Understands and communicates impact of organizational process changes
  • Facilitates Project Reviews and provides information for audits, status reports, and Executive review meetings
  • Leads Project Team to maintains project work plans and draft required deliverables

Scope/Financial Responsibility:

  • Responsibility will include schedule, scope, and financial cost of assigned projects
  • Schedule will vary depending on defined scope with typical projects running anywhere from 2 to 9 months in duration
  • Financial costs of projects can vary from 50K upwards of 1 to 2 Million

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or a related discipline or equivalent
  • Project Management certification (CAPM or PMP); preferred
  • MBA or related advanced degree, preferred
  • Training requirements (licenses, programs or certificates)
  • Worked within a Project Management Office providing input to improving key processes
  • Project Management Institute certification (CAPM or PMP); preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite of products, (i.e.
  • Visio, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Project Management training and/or project lead experience of 3+ years (PMP, CAPM, SCRUM Master, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, MS Project, Outlook, Visio software programs
  • Job experience (number of years, type/level of previous experience)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in business analysis, system analysis, and design or infrastructure design/development/support
  • 5+ years of experience in a Project Management role with a strong background in team development
  • Familiar with Clarity or other Portfolio/Program Management Software

Complexity:

  • Decisions authority will be limited to scope, schedule, and cost of assigned projects with team input required and all decisions documented within the current project management office process and procedures
  • Supervision will be received by the Director of the Project Management Office with key project decisions affecting schedule, cost, and/or budget reviewed to ensure best interests of the corporation are driving the decision making process
  • Impact of key decisions will determine project resource work loads and affect delivery of key benefits once projects are delivered
  • Position will have matrix supervisory responsibilities as it pertains to project roles with project teams varying in size from 5 to 25 people

Organizational Relationships:

  • Projects could have participation from multiple corporate business units within and outside the client
  • Depending on project size/scope/work effort this contact could be extensive in nature with multiple communication channels
  • Experience leading medium to large scale new application development or infrastructure deployment projects
  • Experience with and knowledge of multiple systems development life cycles (i.e. Iterative, Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
  • Ability to lead a team and deliver all phases of complex systems assignments
