Responsibilities:
- Design, document, implement, monitor, and support
- Sun Solaris, HP/UX, Suse, and Redhat Linux
- Unix and Linux based network services, applications and databases
- Plan, configure, manage, monitor, and support
- SAN infrastructure including EMC CX and DMX SAN, IBM DS SAN and Brocade SAN switches
- SAN fabric design, zoning, optimization, and fault-tolerance
- Ensure that all provided technology services and solutions meet business needs for reliability, performance, and security
- Transfer knowledge to other IT staff
- Review new technologies against business requirements to identify opportunities for process, performance, and reliability to identify opportunities to reduce costs
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university in information systems or information technology or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of experience in information technology in a role that included primary or shared responsibility for architecting/engineering or administering SAN and SAN fabric solutions in Unix/Linux environment to include the following: Enterprise SAN implementation, configuration, performance tuning, administration, and support
- Enterprise storage or backup design, implementation, administration and support
- HBA implementation, configuration, performance tuning, administration, and support on Unix/Linux hosts
- Implementation of multi-pathing software such as EMC Powerpath or Veritas DMP on Unix/Linux hosts
- 3+ years of experience in certifications
Basic Certifications:
- Solaris Administrator
- SUSE or Red Hat Administrator
- Linux +
- SAN design certifications
Advanced Certifications:
- Certifications in other areas related to Unix, Linux, or SAN such as security, performance tuning, network configuration, certifications on multiple OS versions (e.g. Solaris 8.x. 9.x. and 10.x)
Preferred Certifications:
- Internet technologies and routing (e.g. Web, IIS, Apache, BGP)
- Firewalls and network security (e.g. Cisco PIX, intrusion detection, vulnerability scanning)
- Authentication security (e.g. smartcards, tokens, biometrics)
- Network management and diagnostics (e.g. HP Openview, Sniffer)
- Database administration (e.g. MCSD, Oracle)
- Enterprise Network Storage (e.g. SAN, NAS, Mirroring, Clustering)
- Veritas Enterprise Storage and Backup Management Products
Skill Sets:

- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with non-technical staff and end-users for requirements gathering, testing, training, and outcome validation
