Description:

The Senior Test Data Engineer is responsible for evaluating test data requirements, producing test data delivery strategies, and helping the test data management team members in addressing delivery issues and/or other technical test data delivery questions. The Senior Test Data Engineer will act as a subject matter expert within data creation and processing for critical business systems. The Senior Test Data Engineer is expected to be a subject area expert in EDI X12 and healthcare industry claims processing. They work closely with business, development and QA partners to deliver test data that meet defined requirements for new and existing IT solutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Test Data Manager in recommending/developing/implementing Test Data creation/loading/archiving solutions to improve services
  • Produce status reports on project related test data activities
  • Work as a liaison between the Environments, Testing and Development team for data processing
  • Develop and maintain team procedures and process documentation
  • Manage and track data processing issues to resolution
  • Provide mentorship to junior or new team members
  • Provide work effort estimates and manage the processing of test data requests
  • Review and approve test data requirements
  • Create test data files per user requirements
  • Process test data files into target application environments per user requirements
  • Archive test data files as needed
  • Act in the capacity of Test Data Engineer Lead when needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Able to travel domestically
  • Able to be on call and respond to emergencies 24/7 when required

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or MIS, and/or equivalent work experience

Work Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in software development and/or quality engineering background
  • 1+ year of experience in the healthcare payor industry
  • 2+ years of experience in working with EDI X12 data
  • 3+ years of experience in searching, inserting, updating and deleting data in a database environment using SQL
  • Advanced experience using automation tools in several different applications environments

  • Ability to interface with multiple teams in order to design a suitable workflow for the enterprise
  • Programming skills in VB, VB script, C, and SQL
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies

Level of Supervision Received:

  • Function independently within broad scope of established departmental policies/practices; generally refer specific problems to supervisor only where clarification of departmental operating policies/procedures may be required
