Job Duties:
- Directs all payroll accounting functions, including routine payroll processing, reporting and coordination with internal and external stakeholders
- Oversees payroll system modifications and updates
- Analyzes applicable federal and state laws to ensure compliance
- Coordinates payroll tax activities, payment of tax liabilities utilizing Internal Revenue EFTP file transfer software, issues employee W-2 Statements
- Ensure compliance with Federal and State filing requirements
- Preparation and filing of Quarterly Federal Tax Return (941), 941C, and Department of Labor Unemployment Quarterly reports
- Resolves tax agency notices
- Responsible for the calculation of the 401(a) and 403(b) Qualified Retirement Plan, Retirement Incentive Program, Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP), and terminal pay calculations per college policy
- Responsible for Self-Funded healthcare vendor payments
- Analyzes payroll related accounts and is responsible for the reconciliation and accuracy of the college’s payroll related general ledger accounts
- Serves as liaison between HR and Information technology
- Coordinates and maintains financial accounting system for payroll related items
- Participates in the preparation of the annual financial report
- Ensures the accuracy of payroll processing schedules and summaries required for submission in accordance with GASB and state regulations
- Responsible for partnering with regulatory agencies in researching emerging laws and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures
- Answers staff and faculty payroll questions in a timely manner
Minimum Qualifications:
- The position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree
- Five years of prior-related work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPP/FPC certification preferred
- Ability to create procedures and system requirements
- Expert user of Microsoft office products and spreadsheets
