Description:
- Main job is to schedule appointments for patients in terms of consultations and medical procedures
- They do this by making sure that all parties involved are available for a meeting and then coordinate appointments accordingly
- They usually make use of the telephone to make and confirm appointment scheduling them into the EHS system
- They answer basic questions and provide first contact customer service
Responsibilities:
- Oversight of assigned surgeons schedules
- Scheduling pre-operative appointments
- Scheduling post-operative appointments
- Insurance authorizations and pre-certifications
- Must have experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Enter data information into system
- Educate clinicians on scheduling protocol and guidelines
Job Requirements:
- 2+ years medical scheduling experience
- High Degree of Professionalism and confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task while producing accurate work
- Prior experience with HMO, PPO, Commercial, Medicare insurances is a plus
- Be very familiar with medical clearances as they relate to surgical patients
- Be familiar with referrals, authorization, pre-certifications, and eligibility
- Be reliable

- Excellent understanding of best practices

Qualifications:
- Demonstrated communication skills which indicate ability to be successful at counseling, teaching, marketing and public relations
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, regulatory agencies, or members of the medical and business community
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Boards of Directors
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and basic fundamentals of accounting, budgeting and forecasting
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
- Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, medical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases
- Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
