Function:
- Provide accurate and timely financial data to internal and external users
- Support the Accounting department in all aspects of the monthly accounting close
- Provide assistance with quarterly reviews and the annual audit
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for various monthly closing responsibilities
- Responsible for the accurate and timely keying and uploading of journal entries
- Responsible for miscellaneous general ledger maintenance, posting of batches and other closing responsibilities
- Review posted general ledger account activity and investigate variances
- Responsible for recording and reconcilement of assigned general ledger accounts
- Assist with various finance projects utilizing Microsoft Word and Excel software
- Distribute reports to various finance and company-wide personnel
- Review fixed asset additions on a weekly basis for proper capitalization and classification
- Review P&L accounts for misclassified fixed assets and prepare necessary journal entries
- Perform closing functions related to fixed assets on a monthly basis including detail review of capital work in progress, including preparing the related capitalized interest entries
- Process asset disposals including mass disposals on store activity and year-end disposals
- Review proper in service dates for assets booked
- Review asset lives for proper classification on assets purchased
- Assist with/cross-train on preparing monthly reconciliations related to fixed asset accounts
- Responsible for preparing and updating detailed and comprehensive policies and procedures for responsible accounting areas
- Analyze existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance the process
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Responsible for the accurate and timely recording and reconcilement of various general ledger accounts, including the analytical review of corresponding expenses
- Responsible for the coordination of the quarterly account reconciliation process
- Assist in the updates of market and attribute types in Lawson
- Assist in preparation of the annual reports
- Assist in the annual budgetary process including keying and reformatting Excel spreadsheets
- Assist with quarterly/annual audit process and auditor requests
- Assist with/cross-train on reporting to Tax department for quarterly/annual review of tax books
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 1-2 years of prior accounting experience preferred
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, and financial reporting including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting
- Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and Word
- Retail, Lawson Financial Suite and AS400 experience a plus
- Must also demonstrate strong analytical skills
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and manage several projects simultaneously
- Ability to participate in group meetings
- Team player with attention to detail
- This position requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends based on business needs
