Position Summary:

The developer is responsible supporting the SDLC, troubleshooting and maintenance, and production support. The developer works closely with the Senior Developer and Software Architect as a project resource and is responsible for translating business requirements into outstanding software. The developer participates in creating new functionality, integrating and enhancing off-the-shelf and existing software, and maintaining existing system. Additionally, the developer assists in generating reports and extracts for various business units throughout the credit union. The developer is expected to be skilled in Business Intelligence technologies using both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. Must have knowledge or a desire to learn items such as ETL, data marts, data warehouses, cubes, scorecards, dashboards, and machine learning and prediction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be passionate about learning new technologies and increasing personal development
  • Research, design, and write software and reports to specifications
  • Develop, maintain and support ETL processes using tools such as Microsoft SSIS
  • Create reports and extracts from SQL server and other disparate data sources
  • Create outstanding code in all tiers: user interface, business logic, data access, and database
  • Develop high availability and highly scalable applications
  • Create prototypes and proof of concepts
  • Assists in the evaluation of software products
  • Participate in and conduct code reviews
  • Ensure solutions are released properly and the release is documented
  • Translate business requirements and problems into innovative technical solutions
  • Participate in user research and usability testing to help improve the user experience
  • Consult with management and review project proposals to determine goals, time frame, and procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of resources
  • Prepare project status reports and keep management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues
  • Create and maintain technical and project documentation; including but not limited to technical documentation, FAQs, and training materials
  • Create and maintain unit and functional tests
  • Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems
  • Monitor production applications for performance and defects
  • Troubleshoot production related issues where our software is running
  • Timely and accurate completion of routine daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual support tasks
  • Participate in a rotating 24×7 on call support tree

  • Expertise (2-5+ years) in the following: SQL Server 2008+, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Analysis Services, T-SQL, PL/SQL
  • Creating reports and extracts
  • Team Foundation Server; source control and work item tracking
  • Database tunin

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in the field
  • A minimum of 2 or more years programming experience with the .NET Framework
  • 1+ years programming or support of mobile development and applications is a plus
  • Microsoft developer certifications are a plus: MTA, MCAD, MCPD, MCSD, MCTS
  • Mobile development certifications are a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree obtained through a formal 4 year program at an accredited educational facility; may be waived with equivalent experience
